Outokumpu

Outokumpu is a Finnish metal industry consolidation with its head quarter situated in Espoo. The company is one of the world’s largest stainless steel manufacturers and the main manufacturing plants are in Finland, Sweden, Great Britain and the USA. The company has about 11,000 employees. Previously, Outokumpu was a large mining and metallurgical company until the mining activities were more or less liquidated in 2002. The company was originally government-owned, but during the 1990’s it was partially privatized. The Finnish state currently owns approximately 38 % of the shares. Being specialists within the production of stainless steel, Outokumpu developed OSO’s Duplex steel. Outokumpu had a turnover of about 5.5 billion USD in 2008.
