Duplex Stainless Steel

OSO was an early adaptor of stainless Duplex steel for the production of water heaters. Duplex provides OSO’s Super series with lower weight, higher strength and better corrosion resistance than previous models. The Duplex steel quality has a number of advantages. When it comes to corrosion resistance, Duplex is equally good, and in some conditions, better than 316 steel grades and it is the superior material quality being used for water heaters in Europe. |
Duplex also has a considerably better strength than the traditional material qualities being used for water heaters providing us with the possibility of reducing the material thickness. This results in an increase in strength, a lower weight and also a reduced material consumption which corresponds perfectly with OSO’s environmental approach. |
The implementation of the Duplex quality at OSO has been carefully surveyed by leading experts within the offshore industry and all possible tests have been carried out for several years before the material was used in OSO’s products. The material is developed by one of the world’s leading manufacturers of stainless steel – Outukumpu (Finland). |
